Forest Souls Couple of the Week
Say hello to your very first Forest Souls Couple of the Week! Brock Shillington and Nicole Rice are new friends of mine and they are truly an inspiring couple currently living in Vancouver, BC. A growing passion that they share is camping and living off the grid as much as work and school allows them to. I set up a brief interview with them and asked for a photo of them with their favorite tree and asked why.
Brock and Nicole went exploring and found this tree to take a picture together and sent it to me saying, "This is a Picea breweriana (Brewer Spruce or Weeping Spruce Tree) we're photographed in front of. We chose it because of it's uniqueness to North America. Not only that, but it is rare to find this tree thriving in more commercial of environments, as it's quite intolerable to pollution and salt. They prefer higher altitudes, and can often be found on rocky slopes and steep cliffs. It's always exciting for us to encounter one!"
